Community Connection

Getting Started...

Walking into a room of people you don't know can be daunting, but if you feel the need for connection, simply being among people is a great first step. Our friendly staff and volunteers are always there to help, and when you feel ready to mingle, co can at your own pace. We don't expect you to jump in the deep end and start chatting to everyone immediately! You are welcome to sit, relax and feel comfortable in our space.

Community For Safety

Being aware of your neighbours and local faces can go a long way towards creating a safer community, and could even save lives. When you begin to get to know people living in your area, even a couple of people to say hello to, you start to build an awareness of sharing something with those people, and visa versa. Just a little nod or "hello" helps to break down the barriers and make them, and you, feel more approachable.

Its far easier to approach someone when you've already broken the ice, so if you think a neighbour or friend is in need of care, assistance, or even in danger, just talking about it to someone can help their situation. Like a social network that knits together through kindness, conversation and awareness, the more people connected the better.

Community For Wellbeing

Personal Wellbeing connects the body, mind and soul. Connecting with us at Welcome Change can help you to look after all three. We promote healthy active lifestyles with our Fit and Fun sessions; our £5 Community Fridge boxes always provide a mix of fresh fruit and veg; we offer advice on how to prepare nutritious meals that are affordable and tasty; an active mind is very important too, so we include games, quizzes and creative activities in some regular sessions; and a drink and a chat in good company is always good for the soul!

Community For Friendship

Fun comes in all shapes and sizes, and everyone has different tastes. You could be a shy violet or a social butterfly, prefer to quietly blend in the background or be centre of attention. We find, whatever the session theme, its the camaraderie of community that provides the fun. When people are more relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings, they begin to chat. Whether you end up having a laugh or having the smile put back on your face, we are happy to have helped.
